Angered by Regulation

I have been angered.  Angered by the all mighty government, again.  This time they're screwing with my banking.  Can there be many other things more private, personal and important to us than our finances?

I received an email from my online bank (no need to name the bank, they are just following the law).  They told me that I transferred money (which counts as a withdrawal) from one of my savings accounts to my other account more than 6 times last month.  This violates federal law.  Um, what?  There's a federal law that states that I can't move my money around my accounts more than 6 times in a month?

Here it is:
Under Regulation D, 12 CFR 204.2(d)(2), the term “savings deposit” includes a deposit or an account that meets the requirements of Sec. 204.2(d)(1) and from which, under the terms of the deposit contract or by practice of the depository institution, the depositor is permitted or authorized to make up to six transfers or withdrawals per month or statement cycle of at least four weeks. The depository institution may authorize up to three of these six transfers to be made by check, draft, debit card, or similar order drawn by the depositor and payable to third parties. If more than six transfers (or more than three third party transfers by check, etc.) are permitted or authorized per month or statement cycle, the depository institution may not classify the account as a savings deposit. If the depositor, during the period, makes more than six transfers or withdrawals (or more than three third party transfers by check, etc.), the depository institution may, depending upon the facts and circumstances, be required by Regulation D (Footnote 5 at Sec. 204.2(d)(2)) to reclassify or close the account.
This bank does not pay me enough in interest ( 0.9%) to make me put up with this.  I will be (slowly) taking my money out of my savings accounts and putting it elsewhere.  Gold coins?  Silver coins?  Heck, hiding it under my bed would probably be better than the savings account.

I call this one a definite Liberty violation!

What is Your Real Tax Rate?

How much money do you pay out in taxes every month?  Do you know?  Sure, you could look at your pay stub and see what you paid in Federal, State and Fica taxes, but that's not all you pay.

In the month of August, I took great care to keep track of every penny I spent on every tax I knew about.  My full analysis will come shortly, but I learned much from it.  There are so many taxes that we don't even think about that we pay.  How many people think about the gasoline taxes they pay when they're pumping gas?  How about when you're at a fair and price of everything you buy has "tax included in the price".  You don't even get to see it!

I think everyone should spend the month of October keeping track of every tax they pay on everything.  Keep every receipt, utility bill and pay stub.  Make a spreadsheet and get as simple or complex as you want.  Two things you want to know are how much gross income you had and how much you paid total in taxes.  That's your real tax rate.

Mine was 25.37%.  What will yours be?

We Have Half a President

Sorry to say folks, but we only have half a president.  Actually, he's less than half.  Maybe somewhere between 40% and 45% of a president?

I say this because he only cares about half of the people in this country.  I see the union thug display on Labor Day as a perfect example.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/09/05/jimmy_hoffa_at_obama_event_on_gop_lets_take_these_son_of_bitches_out.html

Just check out the video in this article.  Jimmy Hoffa Jr is starting a war between union workers and people who have a "tea party" philosophy.

If President Obama was a president of all citizens of this country, he should have said something about not needing "the negative rhetoric".  The fact that he did not come to the aid of those Americans that Hoffa is after, shows that Obama is on Hoffa's side of the "war".
